Nursery Crafts

Ah, my poor, neglected blog...with a new baby in the house (plus a full-time job), it's hard to find time to craft, let alone blog about it. BUT my friends & I have recently recommitted to making crafting a priority in 2014, so here I am.

Today I thought I'd share some old stuff...two crafts I did for L's nursery. Both were Pinterest ideas...here and here.

I made this wall art using embroidery hoops, some stain, fabric (got some cheap squares at JoAnn), & my hot glue gun. I was inspired by the colors & animals in L's bedding. The whole project cost about $15.

This second piece of wall art was made using cards we received at the baby shower. Such a cute way to decorate the nursery AND do something with all those cards, right? All it cost me was the price of the frame (on sale & with a coupon at Michael's...about $9).

Hope you like them!

Hey Baby!

Hey there! Just popping in with a couple of baby cards I made recently.

The first one is a thank you I made for some of the early baby gifts I've already received. This was so simple I made a batch to have on hand.

The paper is from my friend, JoLynn. She is partial to boy colors, but since we don't know the gender yet, I added some bling with a rhinestone & a glitter pen on the tiny hearts.

The second card is a simple 3x3 I made to accompany a gift for a co-worker. She's having a girl, so I stamped it in pink & added pearls to the elephants' eyes.

Hope you like them!

A New Addition

Hey there! I have BIG news! Hubby & I are expecting baby #1 at the end of September!

I not only wanted to pop in & share my happy news but also show off two projects I made to announce the surprise.

I wanted to share the news with our parents in a special way for a couple of reasons: this baby will be my in-laws' first grandchild AND perhaps my mom's last one (at the very least, her baby is finally having a baby!).

I printed out these sentiments on my computer, then stamped the feet & framed them out (got frames at Michael's for 50% off--sweet!). I thought green was a good gender-neutral color since we won't know the sex for several more weeks.

They ended up looking so good my MIL thought I bought them! They were definitely a hit!

Expect more baby-related posts in the coming months. I'm going to be jumping on the Project Life bandwagon soon...

EBTKS Challenge 10

Hi, everyone! It's time for another EBTKS Around the House challenge! This time we're using fabric, so if you're a sewing kind of gal, you can dig out those scraps, and if you're not, you can still play along...use an old sock that has a hole in it, or a maybe a towel or sheet that's about to go into the rag pile. Search around your house and see what you can come up with.

We have a sponsor for this challenge--The Cutting Cafe! The winner will receive 3 sets of her choice.

The DT got to play around with some of The Cutting Cafe images. I chose to use this cute little ducky from the Rain Rain Go Away set to create a baby card. I paper pieced him and added a black pearl for his eye. The gingham background is made of fabric, which I frayed a bit to give it some interest. Some ribbon and a rub-on finish it off.

Are you ready to play along? Link up your finished creation to the EBTKS blog by midnight CST on March 9. Be sure to stop by the EBTKS blog to check out what the other girls did for this challenge...including our guest designer, Tanis!

Stamps: Rain Rain Go Away (The Cutting Cafe)
Paper: Kraft, white, unknown dp
Accessories: Nestabilities circles, PTI ribbon, SU rub-on, Kaisercraft pearl, dimensionals, gingham fabric

Etsy Inspired: Elie's Happy Hats

Today's cards (yes, two cards!) are for this week's Etsy Inspired Challenge--Elie's Happy Hats! These hats for wee ones are SO adorable, I had to play along...twice!

The first hat that inspired me was this cute little number.

I put lots on texture on this one...embossing the flower and bottom half of my card, using textured cardstock for the leaves and crumpling them a bit, and adding a velvet brad for the flower center.

You like?
The other item I was inspired by are these soft and cuddly baby booties. How precious are they?

I had to make a baby card for this one. I went CAS, using a couple of crocheted flowers, some pearls, and a sentiment.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Twice as Nice

This card was pure fun to create. A co-worker requested a baby card for twins, so I came up with this idea to use the baby footprints with both blue and pink paper.

I stamped the feet in Versamark, then embossed with Hologram Highlights. It is super sparkly IRL but difficult to capture in the photo. Click on the photo to see more of the sparkle.

I embossed the background layer using the Swiss Dots folder, tied the sheer ribbon at the bottom, then mounted each set of footprints on dimensionals.
