Sorry...

Hey there! Happy hump day! It's been a dreary week so far...hoping for a bit of sunshine soon!

Just wanted to share a quick card I made a while back. I like to keep sympathy cards simple so the message can speak for itself.

Hope you like it!

Celebrate

Hey there! Hope your first week of 2013 is going well so far. I'm trying to enjoy the last few days of my Christmas break. Not sure I'm ready to go back on Monday...

I spent my afternoon crafting (& eating...& chatting) with some friends--all hosted by the fabulous JoLynn! I made these two cards using new stamps from Paper Smooches & Hero Arts, along with some new papers from My Mind's Eye.

I'm entering these in the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge as well as A Blog Named Hero's New Year, New You.

Hope you like them!

My Cup of Tea

Hey there! Another HOT day here in central Illinois. We've had temps in the upper 90's with the heat index in the triple digits for almost a week now. It makes it unbearable outside...but, on the bright side, not much to do besides stay inside & CRAFT!

In light of the weather, I thought it was funny that my card today is all about teacups. While I was staring at this color combo (the challenge this week over at The Play Date Cafe), I got inspired by the PDCC coffee cup logo & came up with this design. It's also my entry for PTI's Make It Monday challenge to stamp on patterned paper.

Hope you like it!

Ocean of Whale Wishes

Hey there! Happy Thursday! It's a dreary one here, but we need the rain, so I can't complain...plus, it's perfect weather for crafting. *wink*

First, some fun news: I won "Cup of the Week" over at The Play Date Cafe for this card. It's always a fun surprise when your card is chosen as a favorite!

Now onto my card. I've been wanting to play along with some of the Card Creations challenges over at Moxie Fab World, but I haven't had time until now.

I decided to truly challenge myself by joining in on the spatter technique challenge...not a technique I normally use, but I had fun trying!

I used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist for my spatters, & I am IN LOVE with how it adds shimmer to the card! I also used a glitter pen to add some sparkle to the hearts on my whale. And notice how the whale is paper pieced with hearts...it goes well with my loving sentiment, don't you think?

Hope you like it!

A Real Fun-gi

Hey there! Hope you enjoyed your three-day weekend. It was hot, hot, HOT here in the Midwest. I'm not a fan of the heat, especially when it's still only May!

Today I'm sharing my entry for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge--masculine cards using patterned paper.

Killing two birds with one stone here--I used up some paper from my ever-growing stash AND I finally inked up this Unity set that's been sitting around unloved for ages.

This one's got two things I love--paper piecing & a good pun. Hope you like it, too!

Hello, Foxy!

Hey all! Happy Monday!

Just a quick post to share my card for this week's challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays. This time around the challenge is to use punches or dies. AND...since the sponsor is Lawn Fawn, I couldn't resist using some of Kelly Marie's adorable stamps!

I used dies for my clouds & circle & a border punch to edge my grass. Love how cute that paper-pieced fox turned out!

Hope you like it, too!

Paper: Green Galore (SU), Spring Rain, white, pp (PTI)

You Knock My Socks Off!

Hey there! The end of school is almost here, & I'm so busy, I can barely stand it. Just a few more days...

BUT, I did find time (for my own sanity!) to play along with the current Lawnscaping Challenge--clean & simple. You know I can't resist a good CAS challenge, & Lawn Fawn stamps are so darn cute, it's easy to whip up an adorable CAS card in no time!
Here's what I came up with...I originally envisioned using this for my hubby, but then I realized I might even use it as a thank you or encouragement card for a co-worker who goes that extra mile.

Either way, I think it's PDC...Pretty Darn Cute...& it's definitely CAS. Hope you like it!

Wee Memories Challenge 54

Hey there! Time for Wee Memories Challenge 54! Are you ready for a fun one?

This week's sponsor is Tiffany Doodles! They have lots of adorable digi stamps to choose from, & this week's winner will receive a $15 gift certificate!

So, what's our challenge for you this week?  One of my favorites...

Paper piecing! It's such a fun & easy technique to do with both digi & traditional stamps. Plus, I'm a huge fan of paper piecing because I'm not the world's best colorer. With this technique, I let the cute patterned paper do all the work!
Tiffany Doodles provided the design team with some fun digis to work with. I chose this adorable bird & sentiment from the Birdies Housework set. I paper pieced my bird with a blue gingham pattern & paired it with some red ribbon...one of my favorite color combos.

So, ready to play along with us? Just link up your project to the Wee Memories blog. You have until midnight PST on Fri., May 6 to be eligible for the prize.

I can't wait to see your paper pieced creations!

Etsy Inspired #127

Hey, everyone! Time for another Etsy Inspired Challenge! This week's featured shop is Claylicious, home of functional & decorative handmade pottery.

Claylicious is offering this handmade ceramic owl desk buddy as a prize to one winner this week!

Plus, you can use the code "INSPIRED" to receive 10% off your purchase at Claylicious!

Our awesome sponsor is Your Next Stamp, who offer a unique variety of fun and whimsical rubber stamps for every occasion! They are offering one winner a $10 gift voucher!
I chose this fun little plate as my inspiration piece. The tree immediately reminded me of some stamps I own but haven't inked up, so I pulled them out & got to work.
I paper pieced my tree & added a simple sentiment. This will go into my masculine birthday card stash.

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT to see how they were inspired:

So, are you ready to play along? Head over to the Claylicious shop to gather inspiration. Then link up your finished creation to the Etsy Inspired blog. I chose these pears as my inspiration.

I used these super cute stamps from My Favorite Things...love the look of the paper pieced pears (say that 10 times fast!) against the kraft.

Hope you like it, too!

Espressing My Thanks

Happy Monday! Are you gearing up for turkey day? I've got a super busy week ahead...not only making a bunch of food for Thanksgiving, but also trying to finish up Christmas gifts for those I'll see on Thursday but not at Christmastime. PLUS, we have an out-of-state family wedding on Saturday, so I can basically say goodbye to my Thanksgiving "break." It's gonna be a wild week!

Today's card is for two challenges: The Playdate Cafe 56 (red, olive, turquoise) and the CARDS thank you challenge. It's always good to have extra thank you cards lying around as we head into the holiday season.

Hope you like it!

Wee Memories Challenge 31

Welcome! It's time for Wee Memories Challenge 31! This week we are challenging you to dust off that patterned paper and use it on your project.

With that challenge in mind, it's fitting that our sponsor this time is Paper Maniac! Our winner will receive a $20 gift certificate!

After seeing my buddy, Mandy, challenge herself to make a bunch of cards using one 12x12 piece of patterned paper, I knew I wanted to try it as well. I used my patterned paper in several ways:

As a focal point...

As a background accent...

Using the paper piecing technique...

Playing with punches...

And die-cuts, too!

So, are YOU inspired? We'd LOVE to see what you can create using patterned paper....just link up your finished creation to the Wee Memories blog. You have until midnight PST on Fri., Nov. 19 to be eligible for the Paper Maniac prize!

Now dust off that patterned paper & get creating!

Hey, everyone! Another unseasonably warm day here...it really doesn't feel like Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

Today I'm sharing a card I made for my SIL. She is hosting Thanksgiving this year, and I really appreciate it, so I'll be giving her this along with a little something extra...got any ideas what I could give as a small hostess gift? Suggestions welcome!

This card is for two challenges: Laura's Sketch 65 over at 2 Sketches 4 You & the CARDS challenge to create a fall project.

Hope you like it!

Wee Memories Challenge 30

Happy Saturday! Are you ready for another Wee Memories challenge? This week is a special one...our founder, Jenny, started her Wee Memories blog one year ago...which means we're celebrating her blogaversary in a BIG way!

That's right, we have a prize from not one, but TWO, sponsors this week!

There She Goes is offering our winner her choice of a stamp set....

AND

Artful Delight is offering a $25 gift certificate.

I know YOU want to play along with us!

Since we are celebrating Jenny's blogaversary, our theme this week is BIRTHDAYS!

I decided to use the Let's Get Together set from There She Goes to create a wintry birthday card. Now I know this doesn't look like the traditional birthday fare, but I thought it'd be fun for a coffee-loving friend...and with a Starbucks gc tucked inside, who could resist?

So, ready to play along with our birthday challenge? Link up your finished creation to the Wee Memories blog. You have until midnight PST on Fri., Nov. 12 to be eligible for the prizes.

I can't wait to see what you create!

Stamps: Let's Get Together (There She Goes), All Occasion (Hero Arts)
Paper: Brocade Blue, Chocolate Chip, Berry Sorbet, PTI white, PTI pp
Ink: Adirondack Espresso, Close to Cocoa

Wee Memories Challenge 27

Happy Saturday! Are you ready for another Wee Memories challenge?

This week's challenge is a fun one. Our founder, Jenny, is celebrating her one-week wedding anniversary, so we are CELEBRATING! Your creation should celebrate something--a birthday, anniversary, wedding, new baby, etc.

If you play along with us, you could win a Scor-Buddy from our awesome sponsor, Scor-Pal!

Since Scor-Pal is our sponsor, I decided to use mine on my project. I created a tent topper card using an easy SCS tutorial. Not only did my Scor-Pal help me create the perfect score line and a professional fold, but I also used it to measure the placement of the topper so the card will fit in a standard A2 envelope.

My nephew is getting married over Thanksgiving weekend, so Sunday we are celebrating with a wedding shower. I went with the "shower" theme on my card, using raindrop patterned paper and an umbrella stamp set. I paper pieced the umbrella and popped it up on dimensionals for a bit of extra fun.

So, ready to play along with our celebrations challenge? Link up your finished creation to the Wee Memories blog. You have until midnight PDT on Friday, October 22 to be eligible for the prize.

Stamps: Scattered Showers (PTI)
Paper: Old Olive, PTI white, Echo Park pp
Ink: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: SU ribbon, dimensionals, Nestabilities circles, Scor-Pal

Happy Fall Birthday!

Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice weekend. I spent most of mine at home. I don't know if it's the cooler weather or that we just bought a new range, but I was a foodie fiend this weekend. I cooked 3 homemade dinners, 2 kinds of muffins for breakfast, and some pumpkin spice cake. Hoping to continue the trend by making some homemade soup tonight.

Just wanted to share this card I made for a co-worker's birthday today. I wanted to do a twist on the traditional birthday images, so I used a pumpkin instead. Do you think she'll like it?

Wee Memories Challenge 25

Happy World Card Making Day! Why not celebrate by joining us in the latest Wee Memories challenge?

Our sponsor this week is Prickley Pear, and our winner will receive a $15 gift certificate.

So, what's the challenge this week? Tutti Frutti! Since our sponsor is Prickley Pear, we figured a fruit theme would be appropriate. So dig out those cherries, berries, apples, oranges, etc. and play along with us!

For my project this week, I started with this package of watermelon gum.

I decorated the package, then added a matching 3x3 card. I thought it would make a fun surprise for my niece.

So, wanna play along with us? Include some fruit on your creation, then link it up on the Wee Memories blog. You have until midnight PDT on Friday, Oct. 8 to be eligible for the prize.

I'm berry excited to see your fruity creations!

Nuts About You

Hey, everyone! Hope your week is going well. My life is absolutely crazy right now, so I've barely had time to craft at all. I keep hoping things will slow down, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I was working on some DT stuff today, but I squeezed in a few moments and whipped up this quick card just for fun. It fits the following challenges:
365 Cards Tools & Techniques--I used paper piecing as my color tool and foam dots as my dimensional tool
Cute Card Thursday--Play on Words
GCA 104--Fall Flair

I thought this'd make a great card for my hubby since our anniversary is coming up in October. What do you think?

EBTKS Challenge 20

Welcome to another Around the House challenge over at Everything But the Kitchen Sink!

This time we are challenging you to use buttons on your card...and not just the buttons you already have in your crafty stash. As the name implies, we want you to look through your house for extra buttons you have lying around and use those on your creation. So check your sewing kit, your junk drawer, etc. and see what you can find!

Our fabulous sponsor for this challenge is Simon Says Stamp! They have such a great selection...be sure to stop by and check out their website!
Now, I'm not a sewing kind of gal, but I am a pack rat, so I was able to dig through my assortment of buttons I've collected over the years to create this card...good thing I own lots of colorful button-down shirts!

I did a bit of paper piecing and added a googly eye to my elephant for a bit of extra fun. Oh, and my layout is Laura's Sketch 57.

So, ready to play along? Link up your finished creation on the EBTKS blog. You have until midnight CDT on Sun., Aug. 8 to be eligible for the prize. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Stamps: Elephants (Hero Arts), Just My Type (Lawn Fawn)
Paper: Pink Pirouette, PTI white, unknown pp
Ink: Kiwi Kiss
