Girl Talk

I've been crazy busy getting ready for today--the first day of school! Not only do I meet all the kiddos for the first time, but also their parents for tonight's open house. SO, it will be a very looooong day. You've probably already noticed, but now that school is underway, I'll no longer have daily blog updates, and my visits to your blogs will mostly be on weekends.

With all the prep work for school, I've done zero crafting, so I thought I'd share a publication reject. This one was submitted to CardMaker magazine.

The editors prefer cards that are decorated inside and out, so here's the little detail I added to the inside of the card. What do you think?

Stamps: On My Couch, On My Couch Additions (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Basic Gray, Bashful Blue, Cameo Coral (Stampin' Up!); Stamper's Select white (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Basic Gray, Cameo Coral (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: scalloped edge punch (Stampin' Up!), ribbon (Stampin' Up!), button (Papertrey Ink), pearls (Kaisercraft), Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder

Awwww Anne, I will miss your daily updates. I love your fresh ideas. This card is adorable. I can't wait to get my hands on this stamp set. I'll be able to do so much with it.

Good luck with school. We still have a few more weeks of summer freedom here in BC, Canada.

I think your card is great.
We are going to miss you, not seeing you every day. I hope the children behave for you :)
Take care xx

Personally, I just love the embossed, raised, polkas on the cardstock, mirroring the negative space stamped polkas on the couch!! And the girl talk? TOO CUTE!

What grade do you teach? Open house on the first night? Our Open House/Back to School Night is in a week. My son goes back to school on Thursday, but we are going in to meet his teacher tomorrow (just for him, not open to his whole class). He had the most FANTASTIC teacher last year and has made his school experience and education such a positive experience (as it should be). And I am so Grateful to all of the wonderful teachers that are there to educate our kidlets. :>

Glad you were able to get crafty this summer and of course, will continue to pop by to see what you are up to! :> Have a Great first day of class!!

I love the card! I feel your pain with starting school as I'm a teacher as well. I manage to do a little blog surfing early in the morning because I choose to get up earlier and I get some done in the evening.

I love that, your couch or mine. I hear ya on starting school. I can't imagine how I will keep up with all the sketches and daily postings I've come to enjoy this summer...but it was a good chance to practice posting more quickly. I am always exhausted during the first month with all the talking and thinking that I didn't have to do in the summer!!

I think the sentiments are so fun. What a cute card. I can't believe the magazine wants decorated insides. I guess I haven't read any card magazines lately because I don't remember them showing the insides, just the fronts.
Happy Back to School!

Well if you are mounting some kind of march or riot- let me know I'll fit it in. :) This card is GREAT, and I like what you added to the inside. But you know what? I prefer to make cards with nothing in the inside. But I'm a rebel I guess.
