The Best Things in Life

Hey, all! Is it just me, or is bloggyland a little quieter this week? I'm assuming people are trying to enjoy every last bit of summer before school starts. I go back on Monday, and the kiddos start Wednesday. You know, even after 11 years in the classroom, I still get nervous on the first day of school. I teach freshmen, so I'm always starting from scratch with names and faces--I think that's what puts me a bit on edge. I have that tiny bit of fear that's saying, "What if they all revolt? I don't even know their names to write them a detention!" Mostly, my brain tells me, "They're freshmen; they're terrifed," so it keeps the fear at bay.

Anyhoo, on to my card. It started out as this week's Card Patterns sketch, but it took on a life of its own. I love the end result. Not only did this take all of 10 minutes to make, but this color combo just makes me happy. Smileys

Only two more days until the Get Sketchy challenges begin. Hope you're as excited as I am!

Stamps: Trees, Birds, & Messages (Hero Arts)
Paper: Basic Black, PTI white, Teresa Collins dp

Totally fabulous! LOVE those gorgeous patterns, great colors too!

What a wonderful thing to be a freshman year teacher! You get to be part of their introduction to high school. I am so in awe and completely grateful for people like you. I could never be a teacher...even the little ones scare me! lol!

So it's not just me that gets butterflies on the first day back then?! I'm always scared of the day coming when the students realise that they can just refuse and I can't really do too much about it! Well make the most of your last few days anyways!
Love the colour scheme in this card, and that sentiment is just too true!
Hugs,
Aimes

Love this card. Those colors make me happy too :) I know you hate to see summer come to an end. I hate it because school has already started here and the traffic is horrible! Anyway, enjoy the next few "free" days :)

Shut yo mouth- and stop talking about the end of summer! I work in a senior volunteer program where 98% of them volunteer in schools and the fall is horrible for me in regards to paperwork and stupid questions. I'm dreading it....

You know it doesn't seem that quiet to me, but that's because I've only blogged once this week! I think life seems to speed up about this time every year!

Beautiful card, I love the different patterns on the paper and flower.

I think being nervous is what makes you a good teacher--you care enough to care what the kids think!
