For the Birds

Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a good start. I'm praying this week goes much better for me than last week...don't know if I could handle that much stress two weeks in a row!

Since my week was so bad, I made sure I found some time over the weekend to craft. Today's project is for this week's challenge at The Play Date Cafe. The colors are gorgeous, and when I saw this house, I immediately knew what I wanted to do.

I've been wanting to try a birdhouse for the longest time. I saw one on Nichole Heady's blog last year and bookmarked it, but the opportunity to make one never seemed right...until now!

I used a free PTI template to create the birdhouse. (Check out Nichole's original post for how-to pics.)

Nichole showed how she created clapboard siding on hers...I'm too lazy to do her method, so I cheated by scoring the front to give it a similar siding effect without the effort.

As you can see, I filled it with a baggie of birdseed. Don't you think this would make a cute gift for the bird lovers in your life?

I used textured cardstock for the roof for some added texture, then tied the ribbon on top and added a bird-themed tag to finish it off.

So, what do you think?

Stamps: The Birds & The Bees (WPlus9)
Paper: Garden Green, Basic Black, PTI white
Ink: Adirondack Pitch Black
Accessories: PTI birdhouse template, Scor-Pal, Paper Reflections tag, PTI button, Michaels ribbon, Copic markers, SU linen thread, SU circle & scalloped circle punches, birdseed, plastic treat bag
