Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee

This week's Cinema Saturday pick was Grease! Who doesn't love this fun musical? The only challenge I faced was narrowing down all the ideas I had.

I chose to focus on the slumber party scene, where Rizzo makes fun of goody two-shoes Sandy by donning a blonde wig and singing, "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee."

I used lots of pink on this card for two reasons. First--duh--the girls call themselves the Pink Ladies. Second, I thought all the pink was almost sickeningly sweet, which is exactly how Rizzo feels about Sandy. The satin ribbon reminded me of the Pink Ladies' satin jackets, and this sentiment is something I could hear Rizzo saying as she and the other girls try to pressure Sandy into smoking, drinking, and piercing her ears.

Isn't this layout cute, too? It's Beate's sketch for this weekend.

Stamps: Beautiful You (Verve)
Paper: PTI white, Pink Pirouette, Prints Pack dp
Ink: Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Nestabilities circles, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, scallop edge punch, Sweet Blush ribbon (PTI), dimensionals

Now there is no WAY I can pass this one up. I have to find some time this weekend. This is my all-time favorite movie/musical. I wanted to BE Rizzo. She was uber-cool. The only time in my life during which pink was attractive.

Now, about your card... how cute is that? The sentiment is awesome. Neato!

Ann - your card is Rizzo perfection of that song! I totally agree with you that she might be whispering this sentiment of "if you never did it, you should" in "Sandra Dee's" ear :) I loved this scene in the movie too (so many fun moments to capture in this fun movie :) and I loved your take on this scene.

The Swiss dots and then the background Pink Pirouette DP is so beautiful with the scalloped edge and the sating pink bow - very giggly girly PJ party!

And those pics of Gracie are just beyond cute... her eyes are just soooooo sweet and all you want to do is just reach out and pet her and snuggle her up :) (our son wants a dog - so I bought him a beanie baby puppy - he named his puppy: "sweetie pie" -- which just melted my heart.... so right now my little cutie pie is sleeping with his sweetie pie and we are all hoping for everyone to sleep through the night!

So glad that you had fun with this challenge! Thanks so much for playing along this week! Hope your weekend is going well
Best wishes always!
Sankari :)

What a fantastic interpretation of the challenge, my favourite musical of all time too. You really nailed this one (your dog is so cute, so that's where the expression hangdog comes from!)
