Rockin' it Killers' Style

This month's challenge over at You Know You Rock asked you to choose a Halloween-ish band name and select one of their CD covers as your inspiration. Now, I think they wanted a Halloween card, too, but I just wasn't feeling it. Instead, I chose one of my favorite CDs, Hot Fuss by The Killers. (How's that for a Halloween-ish name?)

Now, this card is one of those that sounds like a great idea in your head, but doesn't quite translate to paper. I'm not happy with the way it turned out, but I don't know how to fix it either.

I started with a Bashful Blue piece of cardstock. Then, starting in the center, I sponged in circles using white, Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, and Brilliant Blue. Although you can't see it in the photo, "The Killers" is always written using a series of dots, so I chose the rhinestone "fabulous" to mimic that style. If you look closely at bottom of the CD cover, you'll see a row of buildings with neon signs of Japanese symbols at the top. I used the rhinestone flower to represent the neon signs.

So, you already know that I don't like it, but what do you think?

Paper: Bashful Blue, PTI white
Ink: white craft, Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, Brilliant Blue
Accessories: rhinestone word (Me & My Big Ideas), rhinestone flower (Michael's), sponges
