Inspired for Maddie

This week's inspiration challenge used the PB Teen website. I was immediately drawn to the awesome color palettes in the girls' rooms. I came across this room and hit the inspiration jackpot.

My ten-year-old niece/goddaughter just redecorated her bedroom & bathroom using these colors. I'd been wanting to make some kind of wall art for her, and this room sparked an idea.

I decided to make her a wall hanging.
I used glittered chipboard letters to spell out her name and adhered each one on cardstock.

Then I mounted the whole thing onto ribbon. I didn't have any grommets, so I improvised and attached an old key ring at the top so it can hang from a nail.

Each letter was then decorated with flowers or butterflies.

I have a feeling she's going to love it. I know I do! In fact, I'm thinking of making something similar for my craft room that spells out "create" or "balance" (my one little word for 2009).
Paper: Only Orange, Whisper White, SU dp
Accessories: Nestabilities Labels 1, chipboard letters (Making Memories), Martha Stewart royal butterfly punch, flowers (Prima), brads (Making Memories & Oriental Trading Co.), rhinestones (Me & My Big Ideas), ribbon (Michael's)

  6. This is a terrific idea for a personalized gift. I like this because, unlike those name frames (which I have made before) your not limited in size. I am passing this link onto a friend who makes name frames. She would love to try this. TFS.
