Finding Inspiration

"Imagination needs moodling - long, inefficient, happy idling, dawdling and puttering."
--Brenda Ueland

I love this quote from Brenda Ueland, a writer and teacher of writing. Sometimes we try to force creativity, when really the best thing to do is just take a break, then come back later refreshed and renewed.

One of my favorite ways to get the creative juices flowing is to head to the bookstore and start perusing the magazine section. I can spend hours poring over them, especially with a cup of hot chocolate by my side!

Here are a few of my favorite places for inspiration:
Domino: I {heart} this magazine! The colors and patterns in all the room decor give me so many ideas for crafting.
Artful Blogging: Talk about eye candy! This magazine showcases some of the most artistic, amazing bloggers out there.
Where Women Create: To quote from the magazine itself, "Where Women Create invites you into the creative spaces of the most extraordinary women of our time." I love to see how other women organize their creative workspaces.
Somerset Life: This magazine has all kinds of simple little ideas to make your daily life more creative and beautiful.

So tell me: Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Ann, I just want to say that I can see why you are a teacher...because you inspire people. I have been inspired by reading you, you have opened my eyes to a whole different creative world. Thanks for the book info! I ordered them last night.

Hey Ann, we get inspiration from some of the same sources...I'm a huge fan of Domino :) I also tap into letterpress and wedding blogs for ideas. The letterpress blogs give me inspiration for when I use my precious fabriano's and the wedding blogs are great for color combos!

Great idea! I usually get inspiration from nature or fashion -- just the things I see every day that make me smile. I'll have to check out some of these mags!

At the moment I Have zero inspiration. I just stare at my desk all evening long, pushing things around. It'll come back to me though, maybe when I see some new stamp or paper I NEED

I love magazines for inspiration. I only subscribe to 1 - Country Living. Catalogs like Pottery Barn and The Company Store are also favorites.
